 Brazil Bio  John Carroll, CEO

John graduated from Western Illinois University in 2003 with a degree in agribusiness and a MBA with a finance emphasis.  John and his wife, Kelly, moved to Brazil immediately after graduation to manage the farm that the Carroll family had recently acquired.  John lived in Brazil for the next 10 years where the operation grew to include 25,000 acres of owned and leased row crop farmland, a cotton gin, and a services business which does consulting, accounting and compliance work for other foreigners with investments in Brazil. John oversees the quarterly and longer term strategic planning for the business. In the US business John manages the family's sow farms in Illinois and Missouri. 


   

Brazil Bio  David Weihs, Business Development

David has a degree from Cornell University in applied economics and management with a specialization in agribusiness and finance. Since 2005 David has managed the start-up of a farm in Brazil and has been involved with the start-up of several Iowa based agribusinesses involved in farming, hog production, and milk production. In 2009, David began working with Carroll Farms Brazil and has a focus on analyzing opportunities for expansion. David is now a part owner of Agroservice and he is involved with administration at a number of levels. While on various occasions he has spent time at Carroll Farms in Carthage, IL, he lives full time in Bahia and is married to Fabíola Weihs. They have three children that are all dual citizens.

 

Brazil Bio Kelly Carroll, Controller

Kelly holds an accounting degree from Western Illinois University and is a certified public accountant. As newlyweds Kelly and John moved to Brazil, where Kelly began working for Carroll Farms Brazil part-time. Since 2006 she has worked full-time for the company overseeing daily accounting operations, tax compliance, financial statements, and internal controls. John and Kelly have a daughter, Audra, who was born in 2007 and a son, Ian, born in 2010.

  

Brazil Bio Katia Cappellesso, Public Relations & Legal Departments

Katia graduated with an accounting degree from Arnaldo Horácio Ferreira University in 2009, and she just recently received her law degree. She started working at Carroll Farms in 2007, when she established our payroll department. She was quickly promoted to human resource department manager in 2008, where she began the company’s first employee training programs. Today, she is the manager of the public relations and legal departments. She spends most of her time analyzing legislation and making sure the farm and gin are always in compliance with legal requirements. She also represents the company in legal issues.

 

Brazil Bio  Marcos Schuh, Farm and Cotton Gin Operations Manager

Marcos started working with us in 2006 as an intern after earning an associate’s degree in agronomy. He quickly proved himself and was promoted to a shift manager, then Planting Manager, and in 2015, he took over as Farm Manager. He has spent time in the United States at Carroll Farms.

  

Brazil Bio  Angelo Sampaio, Marketing & Accounts Receivable Manager

Angelo started working with us in 2006 as an intern after earning an associate’s degree in agronomy. He was the Chemical Application/Spraying Manager for aerial application and is a pilot himself. He was then promoted to Administrative & Compliance Manager of the gin. In 2014, he also took on being the farm’s Marketing and Accounts Receivable Manager.

 

Brazil Bio  Uesley da Silva Oliveira dos Santos, Brazilian Finance Counsel

Uesley joined Carroll Farms in 2014 and brings extensive professional experience from his time as financial controller of a large multinational farming operation.  He administers accounts payable, tax withholdings, foreign capital processes and purchasing processes. In his previous job position he was financial and tax manager for nearly nine years where he was responsible for payment of all obligations of the Company, all banker and supplier relationships, as well as the fiscal area, including calculation of federal, state taxes and other tax obligations, tax planning, and monitoring of external audits.
